Remember.

Childhood, school, university, love and family..
Oh, how it’s all planned.
The days we should cherish.
Birthdays, festivals, holidays, successes, moments of love;
Beginnings and endings.
How meaningless.
How human, to think that some days are more than others.
When did we start defining our lives, spending time giving it structure instead of giving it life?
A collection of memories is all our really lives are.
Memories of the bright stars in the sky and wet grass on your back
of bonding and laughter with people you barely know
of carefree love, music and dancing
of sand in between your toes and the wind in your hair
of stressful nights and panicky phone calls
of falling into darkness and fear
of careless fun and adrenaline rushes
Experiences of adventure as we wander in our worlds
The movie reels that we play over and over, hoping and begging to go back
The ones abandoned in the depths, forgotten and never to be found
And the pain, anger and embarrassment, the ones we wish were forgotten
Remember the raw memories, often left behind
bursting with emotions, mistakes and life
Because just as we make them; they make us too.
Take that journal, write it down
Use that camera, capture the moment
Open your phone, share the emotions
Unlock your mind, feel what was now
And in the midst remember to simply live the others,
The ones that need no evidence,
The memories that make your heart say:
“Come on, put the camera down”
